Master's Student (f/m/x) - Development of an AI-Agent for conceptual design phase of road vehicles
The Institute of Vehicle Concepts (FK) of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) is internationally recognized for the design of future road and rail vehicles that enable climate and environmentally friendly mobility while being affordable and user-friendly at the same time.
We research and demonstrate the required key technologies and maintain close cooperation with other scientific institutions as well as industrial and political bodies.
What to expect
We are looking for you in our team to contribute to the development of a chat bot used for vehicle development. Nowadays, Large Language Models (LLMs) are playing a significant role in processing large amount of knowledge and making it easily accessible to the users. For this reason, in almost every field and major industry, LLMs are being leveraged to perform different tasks, like for instance customer service, translation, etc. The remarkable capabilities of LLMs can be also exploited in engineering fields to help and guide engineers in their tasks. Moreover, LLMs can considerably facilitate the knowledge transfer process across different engineering teams. For these reasons, the aim of this master thesis is to integrate LLMs in engineering workflows and processes.
Your tasks
- Research on Model Context Protocol (MCP)
- Building an AI-Agent based on a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system and knowledge graphs
- Integrating MCP with AI-Agent
Your profile
- Student from the field of mechanical, mechatronics engineering or similar engineering/scientific discipline
- Good written and spoken English or German skills
- Very good Python knowledge (keywords: LangChain, Ollama, embeddings, Chroma, …)
- Very good knowledge of RAG and knowledge graphs
- Personal responsibility and commitment
- Thorough, reliable and the ability to work independently
