As a Mid-Level Compositor at Pixomondo, you are the final architect of the image. Your role is to take disparate elements—live-action plates, 3D renders, matte paintings, and FX simulations—and weave them into a single, seamless, and breathtaking frame. You will work closely with Lighting Leads, CG Supervisors, and VFX Supervisors to ensure that every shot not only meets the technical requirements of the production but also elevates the artistic vision of the director.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you are expected to demonstrate both technical mastery and a sophisticated artistic “eye.” Your day-to-day contributions will include:

• Seamless Integration: Create high-quality digital composites by integrating various layers (CG, live-action, FX) while maintaining consistent lighting, grain, and color science.
• Look Development: Establish aesthetic “looks” for specific sequences or follow the established style direction provided by the VFX Supervisor.
• Problem Solving: Proactively identify and solve design or technical challenges for key visual effects shots, such as complex keying, tracking, or integration issues.
• Pipeline Adherence: Follow strict production guidelines and naming conventions to ensure smooth hand-offs within the PXO global pipeline.
• Feedback Implementation: Review and implement feedback from supervisors quickly and effectively, maintaining a high velocity of shot delivery without sacrificing quality.
• Collaborative Delivery: Work in tandem with the 3D department and other compositors to ensure that all shots in a sequence are visually cohesive and delivered on schedule.

Candidate Requirements

Pixomondo (PXO) is seeking an artist who has moved beyond the basics and is comfortable taking ownership of complex shots.

Experience & Technical Skills

• Proven Track Record: At least 3+ years of professional compositing experience specifically on feature films and high-end episodic television.
• Nuke Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of The Foundry’s Nuke . You should be comfortable with complex node graphs, gizmo creation, and deep compositing.
• 3D & Stereo Knowledge: Strong understanding of 3D compositing environments within Nuke and experience with multi-pass EXR workflows and CG integration.
• Artistic Sensibility: A demo reel that demonstrates a high-level sense of color, lighting, perspective, scale, and composition.

Soft Skills & Workflow

• Attention to Detail: An uncompromising desire to deliver high-quality work and a “pixel-perfect” mindset.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills. You must be able to articulate technical issues and creative ideas clearly within a team environment.
• Project Management: Experience with Shotgrid (Shotgun) is considered a significant asset for tracking tasks and notes.
• Residency: You must currently reside in Germany. Please note that for this specific opening, Pixomondo cannot provide visa sponsorship.
