As a Senior FX Artist at Pixomondo, you are responsible for the most volatile elements of a shot. You will design and execute a vast array of simulations, ranging from large-scale natural disasters to subtle atmospheric effects and supernatural energy.

You will be expected to act as a technical pillar within the department, working closely with the FX Supervisor to set the bar for visual quality. Whether you are working on high-octane feature films or prestigious episodic television, your goal is to ensure that every simulation follows the laws of physics—or breaks them beautifully.

Key Responsibilities

Your mandate as a Senior artist is to take ownership of complex sequences and drive them from initial R&D to final render-ready elements.

• Simulation Mastery: Design and create a wide variety of realistic visual effects, including rigid body destruction (RBD), smoke, fire (pyro), fluids (water/flip), and supernatural magical effects.

• Artistic Excellence: Use a deep understanding of physics and realistic motion to ensure that simulations feel grounded in reality, regardless of the scale.

• Iterative Refinement: Revise and polish simulations based on client and supervisor feedback in a timely manner, ensuring that the “look” aligns with the overall vision of the project.

• Pipeline Integration: Work in coordination with the Lighting and Compositing teams to ensure that FX elements are delivered with all necessary passes and metadata for smooth integration.

• Collaboration: Partner with FX Leads and Supervisors to achieve the desired aesthetic quality while maintaining technical accuracy and engine performance.

• Knowledge Sharing: Actively participate in the growth of the team by assisting junior artists and sharing advanced techniques and custom HDA (Houdini Digital Asset) workflows.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a veteran who views Houdini as an extension of their creative mind.

Experience & Professionalism

• Track Record: 3+ years of FX Artist experience in a high-end production environment (Film or TV).

• Technical Toolkit: Expert proficiency in SideFX Houdini is essential. Experience with Autodesk Maya is required for pipeline interoperability.

• Organizational Skills: Well-developed communication skills in English and/or German. You must be able to manage your time effectively under tight deadlines.

• Physics & Motion: A strong understanding of generic simulation engines and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues within complex node graphs independently.
