Role & Impact

Together with your engineering colleagues, you own and shape design at Blockbrain across the full product — web, agent interfaces, and mobile. From rough problem framing to production-grade components, you work directly in the codebase, shape product direction as a peer, and build the design foundation the team will grow on. Design here is a team sport: you'll be the craft anchor, but the decisions get made together.

Design System

• Define and maintain Blockbrain's component library, interaction patterns, spacing, typography, and motion

• Ensure consistency across all product surfaces — web, agent UI, and mobile

Product Design

• Design interfaces for complex agent workflows, configuration surfaces, and human-in-the-loop moments

• Own decisions from first sketch through shipped component

Frontend Implementation

• Implement your own components directly in the TypeScript/React codebase

• Close the gap between design intent and production reality

Research & Validation

• Run lightweight user research to ground design decisions in real behaviour

• Separate what users say from what they need

Standards & Culture

• Establish design critique practices across the engineering organisation

• Define what good looks like — and hold the bar

Expected AI Skill s

At Blockbrain, we don't just talk about AI — we use it every day. In this role, you will:

• Use AI tools to generate design variations, explore interaction concepts, and accelerate visual production

• Leverage coding agents to implement components and iterate on frontend code without waiting on others

• Work directly with Blockbrain's own agent platform and feed real design intuitions back into the product

• Stay current on how AI capabilities are reshaping interface paradigms and apply that to what you build

We're not looking for AI experts — we're looking for designers who treat AI as a creative and engineering multiplier, not a novelty.

Your Profile

• Craft obsessive. You care about the difference between a good interaction and a great one. Not because of aesthetics — because you've seen how much it matters to whether something works.

• System-thinker first. You don't design screens. You design systems. Components, states, edge cases, error conditions — your work is coherent at the level of the full product, not just the happy path.

• Technically fluent. You read code. You write it. You understand what's expensive to implement, what's cheap, and how to design at the boundary between the two. You don't produce designs that are beautiful in Figma and painful in production.

• User-grounded. You've talked to real users. You know how to separate what they say from what they need. You bring that understanding into every design decision, not just after a research sprint.

• Decisive under ambiguity. The product is still being shaped. The right pattern for an agent handoff screen doesn't exist in a design system somewhere. You make a call, ship it, and revise it when you learn something.
